Kentucky paced back and forth, looking agitated and worried.  Missouri watched her do so with a look of mild amusement on her face, nibbling on a stick of Pocky she'd bummed off of Japan.  Something beeped and as Missouri dove into her bag to pull out her Smartphone, Kentucky yelped as if someone had pinched her rather hard.

"Well…" the blonde technophile said around the candy in her mouth, "The report's calling for one to three inches by midnight tonight."  She glanced out the window at the bleak gray skies that looked about to burst at any moment.  Kentucky frowned and continued pacing again, feeling slightly on edge.  At that moment, Louisiana and Quebec entered the room, carrying a couple bags.  Louisiana was decked out in every piece of winter gear imaginable: from the knit toboggan and striped scarf on her head down to her heavy rubber snow boots and snowshoes.  Quebec, on the other hand, was much more mildly protected in her jeans, rubber boots, and parka.

Louisiana said something that was muffled behind her big scarf.  "She said 'Jeez the grocery store was packed today, all the old people were out in force'," Quebec translated, taking the bags from her sister whose padded arms flew up in the air when the weight keeping them by her sides was lifted.  Missouri and Kentucky sighed.  Louisiana always had to overdo her winter attire.  "Unfortunately, they didn't have what you requested," Quebec told the only brunette in the room who panicked.

"What?! Oh crap, I gotta run out and get the bread and the milk at the convenience store! I'll be back!" Kentucky said, grabbing her coat, hat, and gloves and dashing out the door.  Quebec shook her head sadly at her roommates' behavior.

"Damn, if it ain't cold! I bet Hell itself froze over!" Louisiana had taken off most of her layers, still clad in two sweatshirts, sweatpants, and two layers of thick socks.  "I hate it when the temperature gets below 60!"

"Welcome to the world outside the Gulf of Mexico," Missouri said, taking a long sip of coffee.

"Personally, I think you're being a baby about it, Sis," Quebec pointed out, earning a sharp jab from Louisiana in retribution, "After all, not all of us live on a beach that gets well into the 100's in the summer!"

"Shaddup," Louisiana huffed, nursing her wounded dignity.

Meanwhile, Kentucky was dashing towards the store for the bread and milk she so desperately needed.  That was when the first few fat, fluffy flakes began to quietly fall.

"Man, it's really snowing hard out there," Missouri observed mildly, checking the forecast again, "Once again, our local meteorologists are wrong… it's built up quite a bit already."

"I hope Kentucky's alright," Quebec said, looking up from her hockey game, "She's been gone over an hour now..."  At that moment in time the door to their small apartment opened and slammed shut.  Kentucky slid against the door, clutching plastic bags to her chest and looking rather disheveled and consternated.

"It's snowing!" she proclaimed, "There's already an inch on the ground! The salt trucks are nowhere to be seen and I haven't heard anything about school closings! The roads are going to be an absolute mess in the morning!"

Her roommates stared at her.  "How on earth did you survive the 2008 ice storm?" Quebec asked.

"Quickly! I need the salt and a shovel and some candles! We could be snowed in for days!" Kentucky was running around the tiny apartment, looking for stuff in a frenzy.

"What is it with Kentuckians and snow anyway?" Missouri asked, rather confused.
Yay, random little fic-thingy.

This was just written for the lulz.

And for the record, yes, Kentuckians, the citizens of Louisville in particular, tend to get rather frantic with there's snow in the forecast, no matter how little (this fic was written mostly due to the fact that it is currently snowing in Louisville and all day (and night) our local meterologists are monitoring the snow "storm" in our area)

So yeah, the salt trucks are out in force before a system that dumps maybe a half an inch of snow on us. It's kinda ridiculous, but really funny as well.

Plot: None really, just that the four characters: Missouri, Quebec, Kentucky, and Louisiana share a small apartment down the street from World Academy (this is a semi Hetalia-Gakuen-verse fic)

EDIT: for the record, the 2008 ice storm that Quebec mentions refers to the huge ice storm that hit Kentucky last January (I can't believe it's been a year since then) and practically shut the state down for over a week
